John Schlitt Newsletter 05-04-2008

Hello everyone!

We have a few things to talk about this month; the first being GMA week!

For those of you not familiar with GMA (Gospel Music Association) Week, it is an annual five-day event consisting of seminars, showcases, workshops, networking and worship opportunities designed to attract fans and representatives from all areas of the Christian and gospel music world.

April 19-23 marked the launch of "The Grafting" within the Christian industry, starting out Sunday evening with a "Guitar Pull," hosted by McCain & Co. Public Relations.

A Guitar Pull is an exclusive, invitation-only affair, but very informal and free-flowing in nature.

This event was held in one of the suites at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel, with artists such as Don Francisco, Dallas Holm, The Archers and more, singing and playing acoustically. There was no microphone, no sound equipment - just pure, raw talent. John performed "The Grafting" and "Only Men" to a standing-room only crowd of media personnel. The response was wonderful, and interest in "The Grafting" was high.

The rest of the week was full of interviews with radio, television and print media..

Having met many people throughout the week, there is one that merits a special mention: Steve McLellan of Shoutlife.

Shoutlife is "a safe, clean, family friendly social networking community" and a great way to network in both a professional and personal manner. It's similar in nature to Myspace but without the questionable content and even more questionable 'friends.'

John (as well as II Guys II Guys) has a Shoutlife site where we've connected with many new friends - one of which was Ricky B. Rogers, John's new manager!

Because II Guys were featured in the "Spotlight Section" on Shoutlife's homepage, Ricky sent a welcoming email, we responded, and now John is working with a manager that he never would have met had it not been for Shoutlife.

So make sure to visit Shoutlife and create your OWN site - you just never know what may come of it!

One more thing to check out: while we may not send out newsletters on a regular, we DO add new content to the Fan Site of JohnWSchlitt.com on a weekly and sometimes daily basis. Make sure to check out the bottom of the Fan Site homepage under the section titled "New Additions" to see the latest embellishments.

The site chronicles the history of John as well as Petra since 1986, so if you have any media material, fun stuff that you created, high-quality photos or any other archives of a historical nature to share - please contact us and we'll be happy to include it on the site.

And if you haven’t purchased your copy of “The Grafting” yet – it’s available at PetraMerchandise.com as well as local Christian bookstores. If you don’t see it on the shelf – ask the store to order it for you. It will be well worth the wait!
